Nutritional information verification
A 2024 study of several energy gel brands found that some had lower carbohydrate content than the actual carbohydrate content of each product. This can significantly impact an athlete's performance during training or competition.
In the graph, we can see several gel brands with their respective declared carbohydrate values (% declared on the label). Some brands are below the ideal 100%. An extreme case was Spring Gel, with a declared value almost 70% lower than the actual value.
